Here's the video for "Flowering Deer" from Matt Bauer's The Jessamine County Book of Living. It features vocals from Dirty Projectors' Angel Deradoorian, Jolie Holland, Alina Hardin and others, and, according to the album's line notes, the song's arrangement "is based on Daniel Reed's four part vocal arrangement of his song Windham from 1785."

You can catch Bauer live this Saturday at The Gutter, where he's playing Kevchino.com's 10th anniversary celebration along with Dana Falconberry, Natureboy and Prairie Empire.

Here's a video by Bleary Eyed Brooklyn of Howler playing "Back of Your Neck" live at Pianos on Wednesday night, the second night of their five-day run of NYC shows.

The Minneapolis band, whose debut LP America Give Up (stream it here) just came out on Rough Trade, play Cameo Gallery tonight, and Saturday night they'll be back at Pianos. After that they'll head to Europe for a bit, but they'll be back to play the Knitting Factory on April 10 and Mercury Lounge on April 11.

On Tuesday our long-time favorite Sharon Van Etten played a live set for WNYC's Soundcheck Live at The Greene Space. Check out the video of "Give Out" and stream audio of the rest of her performance below, or stream the video here.

Van Etten also played an intimate show last night at Mercury Lounge, and she'll be playing the Music Hall of Williamsburg on February 24 and Bowery Ballroom on February 25 and February 26. Her new album, Tramp, is out February 7 on Jagjaguwar.

America Give Up, the debut album from Minneapolis' Howler, is out today on Rough Trade, and the band is celebrating the release with a string of five NYC shows starting with a free in-store tonight at Other Music.

Wednesday they head to Pianos. Thursday they play Death By Audio with Grooms and Clouder. Friday they are at Cameo Gallery with St. Lucia and Fast Years, and Saturday they return to Pianos to headline a show with Dear Lions Cemeteries and The Everymen.

Then they'll have one short day of rest before jetting across the pond for a string of European shows. We're feeling tired just typing all of this out!

San Francisco's Girls, the group led by former Children of God member and Stanley Marsh 3 protege Christopher Owens, played Terminal 5 Saturday night.

Below you can stream "Andrew in Drag," it's the first single from The Magnetic Fields's forthcoming album, Love at the Bottom of the Sea.

The song will be available on a limited edition 7" that's available on January 31, and the new album is out March 6 on Merge Records.

The Magnetic Fields play the Beacon Theatre on April 3, and before that Stephin Merritt will be at the Barnes & Noble in Union Square on March 8 with author Emma Straub.

Tonight Brooklyn's Keepaway celebrate the release of their first full-length album, Black Flute, the follow-up to their 2010 EP Baby Style, with a show at Glasslands.

Below you can check out the video for the Black Flute track "Cake," which debuted last week. The album is out today on Das Racist's Greedhead imprint.
