Pontiak may be two different artists:
Baltimore/Virginia-based trio Pontiak is comprised of multi-instrumentalist brothers Van (guitar, vocals), Jennings (bass, keyboards, vocals), and Lain (drums, vocals) Carney. To date, the prolific Pontiak's releases - two EPs, four full lengths ("Valley of Cats," "Maker," "Sea Voids," and "Living") and a mini-LP, "Sun on Sun" have all been self-produced slabs of guitar-based rock. The band has grown heavier with each record; "Sun on Sun" was a hybrid of classic- and stoner-rock, with songs running into 10-minute territory and extended instrumental breaks. 2009's "Maker" is even heavier, noisier, and packs a Texas-sized wallop. Both of the band's more widely-distributed records, "Sun on Sun" and "Maker," have been critically well-received.
Pontus Johansson, a Swedish artist known from the program 100 höjdare who calls himself Pontiak. He writes all his own lyrics and sings them with his very charismatic voice.

Guardian Alien
In Guardian Alien, electronic and otherworldly textures tessellate against a vast and empty expanse, space gorged on those tremendous beats, guitars that squeal and slice like the bass of Lightning Bolt, and actual bass that hovers like a dark and curious cloud. There are wall-covering shrieks and militaristic repetition, head-down breakdowns and tangential rips. -Grayson Currin

YVETTE (2009 - present) is an experimental noise rock band from Brooklyn, New York.
"YVETTE are the hard-edged, ultraviolent, spooktacular response to years of the fluttery squish of Animal Collective and HEALTH. Built on the barely legible guitars of Noah Kardos-Fein and the heavily effected drums of Bloomington transplant Rick Daniel, Yvette use the powers of distortion and flange for evil instead of good. Their debut 7" (hand screen-printed, limited to 350) is four songs that turn the noise-clatter of This Heat and the drummier brumble of mid-'00s Liars into a near-industrial churn.
