Railbird
Railbird are quickly preening their feathers into a sleek, well-oiled, (potentially) gravity-defying carnival car. "If we wake up in the morning," says Kyle, "and there are feathers all over the place, we're like, 'Oh, there's a new song.' " "Sometimes," adds Davis, "she goes on trips on the Railbird by herself and comes back . . ." "With bags of notes," Kyle says, finishing the analogy, "and she spills them out on the floor." - Josh Potter, Metroland

Little Anchor
Folk-pop band, Little Anchor, originated over a long weekend in a cabin on the Columbia River Gorge as the solo project of Pacific Northwest native, Alexa Cabellon, in May 2009.
Coming back home to New York, Alexa shared her new material with friends and old NYU classmates, guitarist Kendrick Lo and bassist Thomas White (Bartlebeats, Meat Children, Uncles), who believed in Alexa's new project. With three-quarters of the band complete, Alexa met drummer Ian Chang (Body Language, Father Figures, Landlady) who completed the group.
Little Anchor played their first gig at a small café deep in New York City's Chinatown. Pleasantly surprised by the turnout in a part of town not generally known for its musical showcases, this small frontwoman with big ideas was inspired to finish writing an EP in the winter of 2010. Since then, the band has performed at Glasslands Gallery, Pianos, and Pete's Candy Store, with upcoming dates at Zebulon and Rockwood Music Hall.
Little Anchor blends the storytelling, melancholy, and simplicity of the Northwest with a pop sensibility developed and influenced by the observations and experiences of living in New York. The debut acoustic EP, Sunland, was self [Read more]

The debut acoustic EP, Sunland, was self-released on June 17, 2010, and combines heavy melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and sweet yet versatile vocals into what they like to call "folk-pop."
Residing in Brooklyn, Little Anchor has plans to continue playing shows in and around New York City, and to begin recording a full-length record as a whole band before the end of 2010.

Ed Vallance
There's an ethereal quality to Ed Vallance's music - a wide-open sonic landscape that feels like psychedelia shot through Cinescope. This is the sound of a man who, in the service of his music, has left the familiar terrain of his native London for the unfamiliar environments of Los Angeles, and now Brooklyn. But what distinguishes Vallance is his fiercely original songwriting. On his new EP The Summer Fire, he has taken his music to a new level; a high water mark in what has already been an acclaimed career, marked by recognition from the BBC, MTV2, VH1, and KCRW.
His sophomore album 'Volcano' is set for release in 2012.
