Lushlife is one of a new breed of MCs. Lush's diversity lies within some 20 years of musical education - he spent 13 of them in classical piano training, along with a 7 year course in Jazz kit drumming, he has arranged music for Jazz combos and performed on street-corners and at Manhattan's prestigious Steinway Hall.

Feeling disillusioned after a year of studying music Lush decided to go back to the reason he first started playing music: hip-hop. His debut album emerged as 'Order of Operations'. Lush performed all the vocals, writing, producing and performing himself. This guy is THAT good...

Shine 2009

Light nineties dance indie is doing better than ever. If you have any doubts, check out Helsinki duo Shine 2009. They combine the spirit of Gothenburg's balearic pop bands like The Embassy and Air France with the wild years of Ibiza and the Madchester mania. Their recipe mixes vocalist Sami Suova's laid-back and drowsy vocals with crisp dance pop beats and fun, slogan-packed lyrics - and it works like a charm.

My Dry Wet Mess

Often the brightest lights emanate from the biggest cities. My Dry Wet Mess, a.k.a. Giovanni Civitenga, 27, has spent his life in two giants: Rome and Barcelona, but his sound might be easily confused with two others: Los Angeles and London.

Equal parts slack Beats and gauzy Bass, Boom and Slo-Synth, Gio's music goes beyond sound effects to express emotion through the prism of melody. In this realm some call Luvstep or Purple or Wonky, where the guidelines are still being set, young voices can elude easy definition.

Though his father is the bass player for Ennio Morricone's orchestra and a studio guitarist on numerous Italian records, Gio chose a less traditional route to music. Starting at age 14 with a sampler and an Atari, his experiments in beatmaking eventually grew into multimedia explorations.

"My Dry Wet Mess" is not his first alias; as "Bluermutt" (a name selected from a list of suggestions generated by eBay), Gio explored some of techno's poppier varieties on a 2008 release for a small label called Nexsound, with a little help from a then-largely-unknown Dorian Concept.

Soon after, Gio moved to Barcelona and began studies in Interactive Design. He developed programs for sound-reactive video performances, which led to an audiovisual collaboration with Daedelus in 2009. Gio demonstrated his software using his own music for reference, and Alfred "Daedelus" Darlington was so impressed that he signed My Dry Wet Mess to his Magical Properties imprint.

My Dry Wet Mess' debut LP, "Irrational Alphabet," is the second release on Magical Properties.

Gio is also famed for his remixes of Flying Lotus' song, Pie Face, and of Actress' song, Maze.
