Royal Baths
Add To My Artists

Featuring ex-members of Tea Elles and formally called The Baths, the Royal Baths are a band from San Francisco, CA that are in the same scene as bands like Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, and The Fresh & Onlys. Unlike those bands, though, the Royal Baths contrast with sunny San Francisco and it's sunny sounds and focus on a very dark and intense form of "" , whilst combining other, more melodic elements. A tape on Wizard Mountain and a 7" on Rad Key Records were previously released as The Baths. They have released a 7" on HoZac Records and their debut album "Litanies" on Woodsist. Their new album, "Better Luck Next Life" (Kanine Records), reflects the grit and grime of their adopted home of New York City and finds the Royal Baths delving deeper into dark soundscapes while maintaining their lo-fi aesthetics.

Lantern was formed in the summer of 2007 by Cruciatus, in the eve of Cacodaemon's death. The line-up changes necessary for Cruciatus' work to proceed didn't leave the moniker Cacodaemon rights to exist under even a slightly different sound. The nuances Johan and Obscurus, who by this hour were beyond band-wise convenience and hence in a difficult position to continue working with Cruciatus. The effort these two brought into Cacodaemon weighted too much on the scale, and Cacodaemon wouldn't be Cacodaemon without those particular musicians with their approaches. Neither could the inspiration rebirth procedure roll forth with but an idle name change, and thus Lantern barged in as a completely new entity, risen from the shambles of an elder beast. Neither could the inspiration rebirth procedure roll forth with but an idle name change, and thus Lantern barged in as a completely new entity, risen from the shambles of an elder beast. An old friend, namely Necrophilos swore fealty to the group after the very birth of Lantern, and thus the recordings of "Virgin Taste of Damnation" took place, with the band exploring its true form as a two-piece, trying their sound during numerous days spent at the rehearsal place. The demo ended up being very experimental and was scarcely distributed, with its main purpose being a factor clarifying the entire style of the band. Nonetheless, the material on "Virgin Taste of Damnation" received very positive feedback and shall be rerecorded for future releases. Loaded with horror, filthy atmosphere and psychedelic perspectives, Lantern is prepared to deliver you farther into the realms these compositions are born of.
