Brooklyn, NY 11211Avan Lava
Avan Lava is a super-funky disco duo from Brooklyn comprised of Fischerspooner bassist Le Chev and the Princely pipes of newcomer Tom Hennes. Their debut EP, Vapors, was just self-released digitally; a few rare physical copies, encased in painted wood, are currently floating around New York's record store hotspots. With Hennes's vocals in the forefront doing wildly funky, Erasure-evoking falsettos and Le Chev's music blipping along in epileptic harmony, it would be easy to paint these guys as the joyous sons of Jamie Lidell. But Avan Lava's textures are more euphoric than headknocking--their relentless grooves also evoke a love of things like Sigur Ros, Sea Change-era Beck, Beach House, and other feel-good blasts.

Tony Castles
Paul Sicilian and Gabriel Wurzel first crossed paths as freshmen at a central Connecticut high school. The two soon began playing together in punk bands, squeezing some excitement out of the endless Tuesday that is CT. The pair went to Skidmore College, where they continued to write music. There they were introduced to fellow student and musician Willie Miesmer. Within two years of graduating all three moved to Brooklyn, NY where they reconnected and began playing together, often swapping instruments and experimenting with loop pedals and samplers. The chemistry was instant. They continue to deconstruct and reinvent their sound while maintaining a mutual love for vocal melody and open space. Their debut five song EP "No Service", recorded by Jake Aron (Jamie Lidell, Yeasayer, Chairlift) and mixed at the Rare Book Room by Nicolas Vernhes (Dirty Projectors, Deerhunter) is forthcoming this spring.

Bluejay
Bluejay is either Jay Thomas on acoustic guitar and vocals; or it is a Chamber Pop band made up of an acoustic guitarist, a classically trained cellist, a jazz bassist and drummer, immersed in male and female vocals, with a percussive guitar style, atmospheric cello arrangements, and tight vocal harmonies that merge the worlds of folk, rock, pop, and classical; or both.
