Parts & Labor
Add To My Artists

Parts & Labor is an US / band signed to Jagjaguwar Records. The group was formed in 2002 by B.J. Warshaw and Dan Friel in Brooklyn, NY and has since toured with other bands such as Battles, TV on the Radio, Deerhoof, Voltage, Breaker! Breaker!, Tyondai Braxton, Coachwhips, Japanther, Pterodactyl, and Matt & Kim.

Hailing from Brooklyn, Parts & Labor are a boisterous bunch of art kids that combine sparse electronics, wiry guitars and pop hooks into uplifting experimental noise rock.

Forming in 2002 after bassist BJ Warshaw and keyboardist Dan Friel met at a knitting factory, the band have toured relentlessly with Christopher Weingarten on drums, finding that their avant garde noise rock fitted in very well with the scenes being carved out by TV on the Radio and Deerhunter.

After the departure of Weingarten to pursue a blogging career the band recruited Joe Wong for their Autumn 2007 dates. Finding second guitarist in renowned sound artist Sarah Lipstate, their sound has become a little more experimental recently, and yet still retains enough of that pop-punk magic to keep it accessible.

Pterodactyl
Add To My Artists

There are at least two acts called Pterodactyl.

Pterodactyl the band resides in Brooklyn, NY. Pterodactyl is Joe Kremer on guitar and vocals, Matt Marlin on drums and vocals, Jesse Hodges on guitar and bass and vocals, and Zach Lehrhoff on guitar and bass and vocals.

"Hyper-rhythmic, skull-cracking hard post-punk trio, playing with laser-guided precision, telegraphing impossible changes, it's as if someone plugged these guys into the nearest available wall socket and flipped the on switch. Lightning Bolt is somewhat of an apt comparison, though they don't waste time with jamming. Les Savy Fav might be too, if that band was as good as people think they are. This is a different beast, on their way to forming an original and completely engrossing sound on their own. It's heavy and brilliant too, if that helps."
-Doug Mosurak, Dusted

Pterodactyl the chiptune/breakcore artist has several releases on the (seemingly now-defunct) Belgian drum & bass/hardcore/experimental Drumadix label, probably best known for their track "Synonyme".
