Giveaway: Win A Starscream CD and t-shirt, then check them out at Blip Fest this weekend!

Starscream giveaway

The 4th annual Blip Festival, which showcases and celebrates "chiptune" music from around the world, is taking place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at The Bell House in Brooklyn. We're psyched for the event and we're also happy to be giving away a free t-shirt and CD from NYC"s own Starscream, who will play the fest on Friday night.

Starscream is Damon Hardjowirogo and George Stroud, and the pair use Nintendo Game Boys and Commodore 64 consoles to make their music. They take chiptune into spaced-out territories that remind us of Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky and similar epic post-rock groups.

It's a great combination, and you can check it out for yourself right now. Download the band's EP Future And It Doesn't Work from the 8BitPeoples website. You can also check them out on Myspace and Muxtape.

We'll be offering Starscream's new CD and a small, medium or large t-shirt to one randomly selected winner.

All you have to do is email us or tweet a link to this post (http://bit.ly/starscream) on Twitter (please also include @EardrumNYC in your tweet). We'll contact the winner on Friday and get the disc and shirt into that lucky soul's hands ASAP.

Starscream's shirts are especially awesome because they are hand-made by the band members themselves (who, when not making music, happen to be very active NYC screen printers). They have even put together an animated GIF (by Richard Gin) depicting the creation of their shirts, one of which could be yours very soon. Check it out below.
