Deerhunter played the first of their two "last shows in New York for a really long time" last night.
"What?" asked frontman Bradford Cox after that news brought some groans and boos. "We're just gonna take a break!" The band just returned from a trek that has taken them "literally across the world," from LA to Japan and back the other way around, to Webster Hall last night. Catch them again tonight at the same place while you still can.
Eleanor Friedberger opened to a slightly less receptive crowd, playing songs off of her first solo record (after several with her brother as The Fiery Furnaces).
