Video: Total Slacker - "Magical Date Night" - They play Death By Audio tonight, Knitting Factory Monday

Total Slacker

Total Slacker doesn't adhere to its name very well. When it comes to live shows, the band doesn't slack at all, playing at least once every couple of weeks in NYC, even though they've been around for less that a year.

Their sound is a bit more slacker-ish, we suppose, but in a way that's loose more than it is lazy. They definitely share some sonic territory with the numerous other Brooklyn bands making echo-laden, washed-out rock these days (Woods, Real Estate, etc., etc.), but Total Slacker also draws on some solid '60s psych melodies and some late eighties/early nineties scratchy dissonance a la Sonic Youth and Sebadoh.

Tonight you can see them at Death By Audio with Fiasco, Life Size Maps and Movement.

Next Monday, May 3, they'll be at the Knitting Factory with Twin Shadow, We Are Country Mice, The Naked Hearts and Gray Goods. That show is presented by Newtown Radio.
