Tonight the red-hot, much-buzzed duo Sleigh Bells plays at Le Poisson Rouge with Philly garage punks POPO and Brooklyn/Brazilian baile funk extraordinaire Zuzuka Poderosa.
Sleigh Bells was featured in the New York Times this week, and New Yorker pop critic Sasha Frere-Jones is also a fan. We wrote a few weeks back about how much we like the demo tunes that we've heard on their Myspace page, and this is a perfect chance to check out their live show.
For a little taste of what to expect, here are a few live videos from their show at LPR back at the end of September, courtesy of Punkphoto.com. There's the adrenaline-inducing "Crown on the Ground," the pummeling, hypnotic repetition of "A/B Machines," as well as "Holly," a stomping, highly-wound tune that's not on the group's Myspace page. You can also listen to another track, "Beach Girls," via Hype Machine.
And, as a little something extra, we've included "Fireman on the Ground," a mash-up of Lil Wayne's "Fireman" and "Crown on the Ground."
We hope you and enjoy, and if you do, you should start your weekend off earlier by catching Sleigh Bells tonight.
