Last December Sam Mickens (of The Dead Science and his own Ecstatic Showband & Revue) sat down one night and recorded and mixed a Christmas EP. He made it "in the spirit of purest friendship, a private record made for one friend by another," presumably for Zac Pennington of Parenthetical Girls, who's known to have an obsession with collecting Christmas music.
Now Mickens has dusted off that EP and made it available via Bandcamp. Check it out below. This release caps off a solid year of output by Mickens, including a solo EP and solo LP and two singles with the Ecstatic Showband & Revue. Songs from Mickens' solo album have also gotten the remix treatment from Parenthetical Girls, Extra Life, Deerhoof and C. Spencer Yeh, among others.
We've also thrown in a newer seasonal Mickens track, "Dark Christmas," which isn't on the EP. To quote Mickens' dispatch, "Have at ye merry gentlemen!"
