Last night Chavez, the much-lauded band that released two LPs and an EP on Matador Records in the mid-1990s, played a low-key show at Lit Lounge as a warmup for their bigger gig at All Tomorrow's Parties in Asbury Park today.
Calling the show low-key isn't quite accurate, though, as word of band's rare appearance clearly got out and Lit was pretty full by the time they took the stage. Though they played in the middle of a four-band lineup, they gave the eager crowd a full set and even a one-song encore.
