Last night we caught Cass McCombs and Jana Hunter at Bowery Ballroom.

Hunter opened the show with a superb solo set, and McCombs followed that with a full-band performance that perfectly replicated the sound of his new album, Wit's End. Sporting much longer hair than the last time we saw him, McCombs kicked off the set with a batch of tunes from that album before delving back into the rest of his repertoire, playing songs including A's "Meet Me Here At Dawn" and "AIDS in Africa," Catacombs' "Primadonna," "Don't Vote" and "Harmonia," PREfections's "Equinox" and "Not The Way" from his debut E.P.
