Micachu & The Shapes

There are lots of great shows happening tonight.

One of those is Micachu & The Shapes and Tanlines at Le Poisson Rouge.

Hailing from the UK, Micachu is a classically trained musician who has written an orchestral piece for the London Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also gathered together The Shapes and recorded Jewellery, an album of unconventional and often heavily-distorted pop tunes that came out on Rough Trade last March. After this New York show the band will embark on a couple of weeks opening for Spoon.

Brooklyn's own electronic dance duo Tanlines opens the show. Comprised of Jesse Cohen (from dance-punkers Professor Murder) and Eric Emm (who has been in Don Cabellero and Storm and Stress), the band has been making pretty big waves lately, both for their own material and for their remixes of tunes by The Tough Alliance, Au Revoir Simone, Dirty Projectors' Angel Deradoorian and more.

Check out videos of both bands below.
