Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo and his wife, Leah Singer, also a renowned artist, will perform Friday night at the New Museum as part of the exhibition "Brion Gysin: Dream Machine."
Gysin was a painter, writer and performance artist, as well as the co-inventor of the Dreamachine. According to the museum's website, Ranaldo and Singer "will combine live music, projections, and a Dreamachine, conjuring spirits in both sound and vision." Also playing is Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, who will be presenting his first ever solo performance.
Ranaldo will also be playing a free show with Sonic Youth in Prospect Park on Saturday along with Grass Widow and Talk Normal.
