Video: Daniel Higgs - live footage and an interview - See him Tuesday at Monster Island, later this month at Maxwell's

Daniel Higgs

Daniel Higgs is probably best known as the frontman of Lungfish, the four-piece Baltimore post-hardcore band. But he's been up to a lot more than that over the past three decades. He was a member of '80s hardcore band Reptile House. He's released material under his own name and under monikers like Cone of Light and The Pupils. He's published books like The Doomsday Bonnet and From The Mouth of the Union. And he is undoubtedly awesome.

Tuesday night Higgs will be playing at Monster Island Basement along with Stellar OM Source, Zomes and P.A.R.A. Stellar OM Source is the terrific psych-drenched electronic project of the Netherlands' Christelle Gualdi. Zomes is the solo work of Asa Osborne, guitarist for Lungfish. P.A.R.A. is LaBanna Bly making otherworldly and often nightmarish sounds.

Higgs has a new two-disc solo release, Say God, coming out via Thrill Jockey on April 13. If you can't make it out to the Monster Island show, he'll be playing Maxwell's (again with Stellar OM Source) on January 27.

Below you can check out two live videos of Higgs from NYC shows earlier this year, as well as a video interview.
