The horns slide over the top of the mix while the guitar and percussion keep things steady. Whenever the groove is starting to wear, there's a subtle shift, whether it's a flourish of keys, a phased guitar or a quick solo. The freshness never fades.

Go see the CSC Funk Band tomorrow at I Do Not Doubt I Am Limitless: Walt Whitman's Brooklyn, a festival at the Pier 1 Harbow View Lawn in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
