Cake Shop, the home to many great shows over the past five years, is trying to raise some funds to start an online video series and more. Here's an excerpt from their description of the project on Kickstarter:
"Cake Shop is hoping to give exposure to talented new bands by developing original content and programing for our web-site: Cake-Shop.com. Through Kickstarter, we want to raise as much money as possible in the true indie/D.I.Y tradition. Phase one of the project is to produce a web-series which mixes exclusive live performances with fun interviews of up and coming bands. Cake Shop will hand pick some of our favorite new bands then invite our patrons, customers and friends over for a special taped live show. After each performance, the bands will be invited to the upstairs bar area to be interviewed. The interview segments will be loose, casual and open in the hopes of being entertaining, funny and human. The web-series will also showcase underground comedians from our Tuesday evening stand-up showcase."
There are only 7 days left to contribute, and right now they're still pretty far from their goal of $10,000. Depending on how much you donate, you can get everything from a vote for which bands are featured in the video series ($5) to your own 30-second commercial that will be included at the end of a video ($5000), with many other goodies for contributions in between those amounts.
