Tonight Bram Stadhouders brings an amazing mixture of jazz, improv, ambient and experimental composition to Issue Project Room. He'll be joined on the bill by the Audrey Chen/Nate Wooley/Gill Arno Trio and Kenta Nagai. Bram hails from the Netherlands, where he first picked up the guitar at the age of 6. He now lives and works in Berlin.
Everything we've heard from Stadhouders sounds soothing but inspiring, abstract but invigorating. He's both an incredibly skillful guitarist and a thoughtful and compelling composer.
Stadhouders has received much acclaim in his home country, and was even named the Netherlands' most promising improvisation talent in 2008. Don't miss this rare chance to see him in Brooklyn.
Below you can watch videos of Stadhouders performing a piece from his album Halt a few days ago in Maine, as well as "Gravity Streams" from The Ship Comes.
