Below you can listen to "September," a track from Disturbing The Air, the fourth solo album from the Chicago's Azita. The record came out back in (yep) September on Drag City.
Born in the United States to Iranian parents, Azita Youssefi attended school in Iran before her family moved to Maryland. Growing up she attended punk rock shows in D.C. and then headed to the Art Institute of Chicago in 1989. She's been an active member of the city's rich music scene ever since.
In addition to her solo work, Azita's projects have included noise-rock group The Scissor Girls, Bride of No-No, which also included Metalux's MV Carbon and J. Graf, and Miss High Heel, in which she played synthesizer alongside Weasel Walter and Jim O'Rourke. She has also contributed to Silver Jews' Tanglewood Numbers and Bonnie Prince Billy's Beware.
You can catch Azita Friday night at Secret Project Robot with Open Ocean and Flown and Saturday night at Cake Shop with Mighty Moon, Cruddy and Mister Melt.
