It's not surprising that Amanda Blank hales from Philadelphia. She's got a wound-up, dirty-but-fun electro rap sound similar to that of fellow Philly groups like Spank Rock and Plastic Little. She's even collaborated with Spank Rock, appearing on 2006's YoYoYoYoYo, and the group likewise appeared on her debut LP, 2009's I Love You.
Tonight Blank plays at The Bell House with MNDR and Pacific Theater. The show is a benefit for Keep-A-Breast.org, an organization that works to help prevent breast cancer.
MNDR is the name used by another Amanda—Brooklyn's Amanda Warner. While Blank takes her electronic sounds in a hip hop direction, MNDR's tunes delve more into the pop realm.
There are no Amandas in Pacific Theater, but the Brooklyn quartet rounds out this bill with more electro explorations, but with a little darker, New Order-ish approach.
